Commercial Covid 19 Cleaning From Commercial Businesses to Boats, SERVPRO of Mobile County is the leader in Covid-19 and Bio-Hazard cleanings in Mobile, AL.

What Do I Do if an Employee Tests Positive for Covid-19?

From Citronelle to the shores of Dauphin Island and everywhere in between, the residents of Mobile County are seeing a resurgence of Covid-19.  Many businesses are confronted with the latest question, of “What do you do if an employee tests positive for COVID-19, and how do I properly clean the office?” As an employer, you have some questions to answer regrading the COVID-19 positive employee and the rest of the team. What does your employee need to do to properly isolate? How long do they need to isolate? Have any other employees been exposed through "close contact"? What is the definition of "close contact"? If other employees have been exposed, what are their quarantine requirements?  The number one place for the most up to date protocols can be found on the CDC’s website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/workplaces-businesses/index.html .

Second, you have to choose a provider who cannot only be trusted, but know they are a recognized as a leader in the bio-cleaning industry. As our market becomes increasingly more saturated with the number of companies offering COVID-19 clean ups, it can be confusing and even overwhelming to know exactly what processes and protocols these companies should be following. SERVPRO of Mobile County not only has the extensive training and experience, but we have over 50 years of experience backing up each of our teams. Here is a list of questions a client should ask when looking for a cleaning provider.

  • What are your teams' training to handle COVID-19?
  • What is your Biohazard cleaning experiences?
  • What type of CDC Cleaning Products does your company use?
  • What are your cleaning protocols and options available?
  • What are your hours and availability?
  • What safety measures do your teams utilize while cleaning the site?

Your company’s safety is our number one goal. You have a choice in choosing a provider, but know SERVPRO of Mobile County is available 24/7, and is the leader in the nation when it comes to cleaning your business after a Covid-19 or any Bio-hazard exposure.  Check out our website for details about the Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned. https://www.SERVPROmobilecounty.com/certified-SERVPRO-cleaned

Fall Increase in Property Claims

orange leaf with white sign hanging on line with clothes pin September 22 is the first official day of fall!

Did you know that each year, September 22 is officially the First Day of fall here in the U.S.?

Did you know that each year, September 22 is officially the First Day of fall here in the U.S.?  Also known as the autumnal equinox, it is one of only two days when the sun is directly above the equator dividing night and day into exactly equal portions.  The other day is the spring or vernal equinox.  Did you know that the beginning of fall also means a noticeable increase in the number of homeowner’s insurance claims?  Claims that tend to rise as the weather turns cooler include:

  • THEFT - Home robberies increase by 25% as the leaves begin to change. You can protect your home by keeping lights on a timer or using a motion detector. Installing video cameras that are accessible by an app is a cost-effective way to monitor your property when you are away from home. You should also make sure to store valuables like jewelry in a safe or safety deposit box.
  • FIRE DAMAGE - Fire and smoke damage claims also increase due to the use of grills and fireplaces. According to gov each year home fires cost 2,500 people their lives and cause over $7 billion in property damage.
  • WATER DAMAGE – Freezing pipes and water damage account for nearly 20% of all property claims during the last quarter of the year. Be sure to insulate exposed pipes and shut off the main water supply before going out of town.

As we move into fall, take some time to inspect your home.  Making small fixes now could save you a headache down the road.  And remember, we are always here to help should you need us.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County we are available 24/7 to make it “Like it never even happened.”

Coronavirus - Fighting the Spread

7/15/2020 (Permalink)

At SERVPRO of Mobile County, our essential employees are out there everyday fighting the spread of COVID-19.  We take every precaution and follow all CDC guidelines to ensure the most effective cleaning process while protecting our employees.  In accordance with protocol, our technicians utilize necessary PPE (personal protective equipment) on each job site and we strictly adhere to proper donning and doffing procedures.  There has been some controversy regarding what cleaning methods are effective (such as fogging only); however, one area that has not been debated is the efficacy of proper handwashing and sanitizing routines.  Using hand sanitizer often is of the best ways you can protect yourself and prevent the spread of the virus.  In addition to following stringent PPE protocols, we strongly encourage our technicians to use hand sanitizer often throughout the day.  We visit multiple job sites throughout the course of our day and taking extra measures can not only protect our team but help to protect our customers as well.   In June of 2020, the FDA released a list of hand sanitizers that contained significant amounts of methanol and should not be used.  Methanol has potentially harmful side effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, seizures and even death in some cases.  Since the release of the initial list, there have been numerous updates.  You can keep up with this ever-evolving list by CLICKING HERE.  You should also always check your product labels and toss out any hand sanitizer containing methanol.

4/23/2020 (Permalink)

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the country, we want you to know that we are still here…WE ARE OPEN.  Our team members have extensive training, experience and knowledge to ensure they can handle the job properly.  SERVPRO of Mobile County is IICRC Certified in the removal of biohazard pathogens and we follow all standards as outlined by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization) regarding coronavirus cleanup.  We classify the cleanup of COVID-19 into 3 different categories in order to establish the proper protocol.

  • Proactive cleaning only. There have been no suspected or confirmed cases on the premises.

Only the Name has Changed

Have you noticed the new name?  Well, we are here to assure you that nothing else has changed.  Christopher Mayhall entered the SERVPRO system nearly a decade ago when he purchased SERVPRO of South Mobile County.  His brother T. John Mayhall had the opportunity to join the franchise system in 2016 by purchasing SERVPRO of Mobile Northwest and North Mobile County.  Their father, Ray Mayhall, purchased SERVPRO of Southwest Mobile that same year.  Over the past four years, the operation has nearly doubled their number of employees and experienced exponential growth.  As they grew, the family-run operation transitioned from operating out of multiple locations to running under one roof.  In 2018, Ray began to transition out and retire, selling the Southwest Mobile license to T. John.  The dynamic brother duo forged ahead, adding new service lines and continuing to expand their business.  Through hard work and determination, they were able to quickly meet all the necessary requirements and receive approval from SERVPRO to operate under one consolidated franchise name.  We are happy to announce that moving forward, we will simply be known as SERVPRO of Mobile County!  One name, one purpose…Serving our community to the best of our capabilities and always being here to make it “Like it never even happened.”

What To Do Until Help Arrives

11/9/2019 (Permalink)

Despite your best efforts to learn and implement precautions to prevent a water damage, it is often out of your control.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County, we often talk about preparedness tips to prevent or minimize the impacts of a water loss situation.  But we also want you to understand the best ways to reduce the impacts after the damage has occurred.  Before doing anything, you need to make sure that the home is safe to enter.  After a catastrophic flood event there may be electrical hazards, structural safety issues and contaminated water present.  However, after a water loss due to burst pipes, leaking water lines or other household causes, your first step would be to locate and stop the source of the loss. Wipe wood, furniture or other belongings to remove excess water.  If possible, place styrofoam or wooden blocks underneath furniture to prevent it from sitting in standing water.  Relocated smaller contents to an unaffected area of the house.  Move any rugs or floor coverings as well.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County, we guarantee that a first-responder will be on-site within an hour to evaluate the situation.  A crew will arrive on-site to begin mitigation work within 3 hours.  Until help arrives, utilizing these tips could help you minimize costs and save contents after a water loss.

SERVPRO Serves: Feeding Firefighters

11/8/2019 (Permalink)

At SERVPRO of Mobile County we are proud to serve the Mobile area and we want to honor those who give so much to take care of our community. From this desire to give back, we developed our SERVPRO Serves: Feeding Firefighters program in 2016.  As part of this program, we draw two lucky fire stations each month to receive lunch on us!  This year, we decided to expand our reach to include municipalities in the greater Mobile area.  We also kick it up a notch each December by providing home-cooked holiday dinners to four fire stations.  We whip up holiday meals complete with all the trimmings to show our appreciation, but we feel like the ones receiving a gift.  It is so awesome to build new relationships and get to know so many of our brave local firefighters.  We love providing them with a small token of our thanks and hope to see this program continue to grow and thrive in the future.
